Tom Alason
Founder & CEO,

Tom caught the entrepreneur bug in his teens and has been starting businesses ever since. After a bad experience with his local courier company, Tom founded in '04 with the novel ambition of making customers happy. After developing some nifty technology and garish branding, set about changing the (B2B courier) world. The business grew to a team of 250+, reaching #6 on Deloitte’s list of UK’s fastest growing technology businesses (5291% growth '04-'08). In ’08 TNT acquired a majority stake in and Tom left with the aim of starting a business that would solve delivery for ecommerce. Shutl launched in '10, promising shoppers delivery within 90 minutes of purchase or within a 1-hour window of the shopper’s choice. Shutl operates 24/7 and is currently offered across 75% UK with high-street brands like Argos, Oasis & Maplin. The business was named UK's best VC backed business at 2010 Startups Awards and won the Guardian's Breakthrough Technology Award in 2011.
Tom will give overview of Shutl as a business, talk about their technology, team, how they recruit, and what to expect from an employee's perspective.

Stevie Graham
Twilio’s First UK Developer Evangelist

Stevie, Twilio’s man on the ground in the UK is based in London but you’ll find him doing the rounds in the rest of the UK and Europe. He’s been around the ol’ block a few times doing mainly Ruby and JavaScript contract work, and now he’s looking forward to helping developers from all communities ruffle a few feathers with Twilio.
He also has a thing about learning new programming languages. Right now he is doing stuff in Clojure and the obligatory Objective-C, so he is especially excited about learning from potential partners, too, as he helps integrate Twilio into their stack of choice.
